How to Maintain Your Leather Shoes

Shoes are an essential part of the attire. You cannot afford to ignore them.
A polished shoe can bring added shine to your dress code. This also explains why several organizations, especially armed forces, pay a lot of attention to the shoes. The aim of this article is to act as a guide on how to maintain your shoes especially when it is made of, the especially hard to maintain, leather.
Tip 1: Polish regularly! Polishing is the most basic and effective tip to keep your shoes glowing. It is advisable to polish your shoes at least 3 times a week. This will significantly prolong the life of the shoes also will leave a lovely impression at your office. However, make sure that one uses a branded polish as your roadside cobbler may end up spoiling your shoe with the spurious polish.

Tip 2: Avoid keeping socks in your shoes! One has the habit of plugging the socks inside the shoe after a tiresome day. However, this will leave a pungent smell inside the belly of the shoe. The odour gets ingrained which will transpire into new socks and make the shoe older than the usual.

Tip 3: Use laces to eject the shoe! Leather shoes are not flexible. One has the habit of kicking the shoes out of the feet after an enervating day at the office. This can affect the fitting of the shoe. It is not recommended by the manufacturer as this practice will broaden the arc at the rear and spawn stretch marks on the leather.

Tip 4: Keep the shoes in airy environment! The age of the shoes can be extended if they one keeps them in a milieu which is free from dust and moisture. Therefore, it is necessary to shelter the shoes in a closed shoe rack. Avoid direct sunlight on the shoes as they can hamper the shine of the shoes.

Tip 5: Protect your shoes from rain! If one wishes to make the shoes waterproof then a coating of linseed oil is advisable. Linseed oil does not permit water to seep inside the skin of the shoe.

Tip 6: Use a shoe horn or spoon to remove shoes!

Your belt size is not the same as your pant or waist size; because your belt goes around you and your pants, your tucked in shirt, and your underwear, your belt size is usually 1 or 2 inches larger than you pant or waist size. The leading manufacturers of quality belts share the same standard for measuring and labeling belt sizes. This measure is based upon the length of the belt strap only, and does not include the buckle.   The best method to measure your "belt size" When ordering a belt on-line, the best way to assure the proper fit is to measure one of your existing belts that fit you well.  To do this, carefully stretch out the belt on a flat surface, and using a measuring tape, measure from: - where the buckle attaches to the belt, to... - ...the hole on the belt that fits you best (this will be the loosest, or most stretched out hole) That ...
